While Europe was falling apart during the Dark Ages other cultures in the world were advancing in amazing ways. In the west the Mayans built up an incredible civilization with an understanding of time and space that wasn't matched for centuries but then mysteriously disappeared. The Aztecs built one of the world's most amazing cities on an island in the middle of a lake. In South America the Inca created one of the largest empires in history. It was, without a doubt, a time of great advancement in the west. It would all come crashing down though with the arrival of the Spanish in the 1500s.
