Meanwhile, in Asia...
 
Throughout most of the medieval period China was the most advanced civilization on the planet. Though they suffered defeats at times their empire ultimately held strong. They are responsible for some of the world's most important inventions such as gun powder and paper. China was so advanced that they felt they had nothing to learn from the rest of the world and kept themselves closed off for centuries. Eventually the doors were opened through and ideas flowed both into and out of the empire.

China Notes 1This is an introduction to China. It reviews very early Chinese history along with Chinese geography. It also examines some common misconceptions about Asia.
China Notes 2 Explores Chinese inventions and their impacts on both cultures at the time and today.
China Notes 3 Briefly discusses a couple of the Chinese dynasties but the main focus is on the merocratic government and the scholar-officials who ran it.
